Nykwa Ima: A Path Toward Reconnectivity
Roads create connectivity for humans, with deadly consequences for wildlife. Millions of animals die due to motor vehicle collisions each year, and habitats fragmented by roads create cascading ecological problems for wildlife.
Since 1997, the Waimiri-Atroari community has monitored incidents of roadkill along BR-174, a major highway that cuts through the Amazon rainforest. Despite their efforts to prevent collisions, roadkill is one of the leading causes of death for many species. Together with the Waimiri-Atroari community, conservation biologists like Fernanda Abra (Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute) are bridging western science and indigenous knowledge to so...

Asian Elephants Go For a Swim
Просмотров 36 тыс.Месяц назад
What do elephants pack for a pool party? Their trunks! . . . On April 23, the warm and sunny weather seemed to inspire Asian elephants Spike, Trong Nhi and Nhi Linh to take a dip in their outdoor pool. They sprayed a few trunkfuls on themselves (and each other), then took the plunge. Spike splashed a tree branch and made ripples on the water’s surface. Nhi Linh delighted visitors when she dunke...

When scientists are trying to conserve a species, its critical for them to know how many of those animals are living in the world. But when you're considering creatures like red-backed salamanders which spend a lot of time underground how would you try to count them? 🦎🤔 It turns out, you need tiny "tattoos" and a lot of hands. By counting the ratio of marked to unmarked salamanders in a designa...

Sure to us, that sniffing is relaxing and cute, but imagine being an ant hearing that.
He graduated from "sniff" to "schniff"
I wish we could have got one of Bao Bao's daughters to continue the Mei Xiang lineage here.
Love u IRON lady
Love u Great zfirst Lady China presedant
Aaaahhhh! I'm in love. 💚 Pablo is fantastic.
no more pan
0:47 disgusting how they tried to scoop the cub like a garbage after the cub felt betrayed being tossed to the water and felt threatened when the dude who threw him/her to the water is like trying to stop him/her from climbing out of the water, creating more stress; hence seemingly he/she’s trying to flee for safety. These folks are oblivious of the distress they cause to such animals.
I find it hilarious that you're acting like the president of knowing how to take care of tigers
Because if they didn't do this test and the baby tiger fell into the pool, you'd be complaining about how they didn't prepare the tiger for the water. Do some research before making assumptions.
@@huilu2434 blah blah blah. My relatives work in a sanctuary that handles big cats from being a cub to adulthood and I’m always in their zoo. And I’m seeing how they handle those big cats. And in comparison, these folks here don’t know how to handle those animals properly. There, that’s the research. So what now?
Sorry if I came off a little rude but I'm just saying what they're doing isn't cruelty and stuff
Like we both not this aint tiger king
I get it, the tigers must be taught how to swim for safety, but they look stressed. And they felt betrayed being thrown into the water. That tiger will have trust issues later. They should let the handlers who have strong bonds to the cubs do the swimming lesson to the cubs slowly while with them in the water. These folks look like just there for the publicity.
2024, Bao li will be here soon❤❤❤❤❤

I'm rooting for Pablo. Go Pablo!!! "hell yeah" :)
I can hear Pablo the Giant Anteater sniffing the camera. Sniffing of the Giant Anteater is 40 times better than that of a human being, and it can find ants and termites colonies simply by sniffing.
This video fixed something in me
So sweet!🥰
The sniffing vibrates my brain with headphones on
They meow🥰🥰🥰🐱🦁
